The fourth annual International Fair was a great success here at Southeast High School. It was held April 21, around the track at the football stadium.
More than 160 students, with minimal help from teachers, worked together to illustrate the diverse weddings from various countries around the world.
More than 1,000 spent an hour and a half looking at the different countries on display. Every year there are different themes for the International Fair.
This year’s was “Weddings Around the World.” Some students are required to participate in the event for a grade (such as International Baccalaureate students and ESOL students).
A wide variety of countries are displayed at the fair every year such as India, Peru, Ireland, China, Greece, Mexico, Italy, France and, of course, America.
Some students say America should not be included in the International Fair because people are supposed to learn about various customs for different countries.
The students always do a good job at providing food and/or entertainment within their booth.
At some booths, the students create games or quizzes and reward correct answers with foods and drinks native to their country.
Students also dress up based on their country and the theme of the fair.
The International Fair is a great event that requires a lot of preparation and patience, but never fails to be fun!
