Never miss a local story.
Where: Braden River High School.
When: 7:30 p.m.
Scouting Manatee: The Hurricanes have scored at least 31 points in each of their five games and put up 45 against Sarasota last week. It all bodes bad tidings for a young Braden River team that appears to be light years away from the Canes and doesn’t have the manpower to offer any resistance. Manatee quarterback Cord Sandberg has thrown only one interception in 98 pass attempts and connected on all 14 of his passes last week. It adds up to a long night for the home team.
Scouting Braden River: The Pirates have been struggling on both sides of the ball, but their big problem is with their passing game, which has been non-existent and produced only one touchdown through the air with four interceptions. Javar Baity heads a running back corps that has strung together some decent numbers in recent weeks, but without some semblance of a passing attack it won’t be able to move the ball much in this game, which should be over at halftime. The Pirates will take a beating and hope it helps them in the future.
The score: Manatee 45, Braden River 7.
