LONGBOAT KEY — U.S. Coast Guard officials this morning were searching for a 20-year-old man who was reported going overboard off of a 43-foot houseboat Thursday night, according to a spokesman. said Petty Officer Rob Simpson.
The boat was underway about 10 miles west of Longboat Key about 7:25 p.m. when the Coast Guard received the call from the houseboat, the “Cindy Lee,” that Michael Taylor had gone over from the bow of the boat and not resurfaced, said Petty Officer Rob Simpson, with the Coast Guard in St. Petersburg.
In addition to the Coast Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildife Conservation Commission and the Longboat Key Police Department were participating in the search. A rescue helicopter and a 25-foot rescue boat were being used for the search.
