MANATEE — Hundreds of Manatee residents were without power this morning after severe storms tore through the area overnight, according to Florida Power & Light officials.
The strong storms brought with them severe lighting which prevented FPL workers from starting to restore power to 669 customers until the severe weather passed, FPL spokesman Neil Nissan said.
Nissan said there is no set time frame when power will be fully restored, but numerous technician crews were working all over the county.
“We have a lot of resources working on it,” said Nissan. “Due to the severity of the storms and the heavy lightning, we had to wait for the storms to pass for safety reasons.”
