About 40 flights between Tampa International Airport and northern cities had already been canceled for today, as the nation's airline system digs out from heavy snowstorms this past week. Only two flights had been canceled at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
That was far fewer than the number of flights canceled Thursday.
At SRQ, the flights canceled were a U.S. Airways flight from Washington National Airport scheduled to land at 11:28 a.m.; and a U.S. Airways flight set to depart at 11:54 a.m. for Charlotte, N.C.; Hartford, Conn.; Islip, N.Y.;
At Tampa, flights affected included arrivals from and/or departures from Baltimore; Boston; Columbus, Ohio; Manchester, N.H.; New York (LaGuardia and JFK); Newark, N.J.; Philadelphia; Providence, R.I.; Washington, D.C. (National and Dulles); and White Plains, N.Y.
However, other flights between Tampa and those cities were listed as being "on time."
