MANATEE — Eaton Corp. has laid off 24 employees at its Manatee County plant as part of cost-saving measures companywide.
The manufacturer of electronic equipment for the aerospace industry made the layoffs Tuesday, said Linda Taylor, human resources manager. The company has about 250 employees.
In January, there were two layoffs at the Manatee plant.
“These are being taken because of the global decline of the airline business,” Taylor said.

The company has already instituted mandatory furloughs and has suspended matching contributions to its employees’ 401 (k) plans.
“I don’t have a crystal ball (to predict the future) so we’ll just have to wait and see” what happens,” Taylor said.
