BRADENTON -- More than 20 local companies, manufacturers, employment agencies and community agencies will be at Manatee County Central Library's Hiring Fair next Monday.
From 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 31, the third annual hiring fair will take place at the auditorium at the Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. W.
The hiring fair's slogan is "Ready. Set. Job," according to a release.
"Last year's event drew nearly 140 job seekers, which led to at least 15 placements and additionally dozens of subsequent interviews in positions ranging from retail to manufacturing to administrative," Ava Ehde, the county's library services manager, said in a release.
Among the employers and employment agencies expected to attend the hiring fair include Bealls Distribution, BrightHouse, CareerSource Suncoast, The Fresh Market, Goodwill Job Connection, Hair Cuttery, Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Manatee County Government and Tidewall Hospice.
Job seekers should bring "copies of their resumes or a file on a USB drive and dress their best to meet with representatives," according to the release.
Central Library holds the hiring fair to help with more focused employment help, said Ericka Dow, information services supervisor.
"We offer resume and job search help to our patrons on a regular basis, but this hiring fair provides a more comprehensive approach by enabling community members to connect to prospective employers face to face," Dow said. "This venue enables them to find out firsthand about local organizations and can even lead to impromptu interviews."
