EAST MANATEE -- Standard Pacific Homes is moving into Lakewood Ranch.
Last week, the Irvine, Calif. home builder staked its claim to 114 acres of grazing land along Pope Road just north of the Lakewood Ranch neighborhood Central Park. The company paid Lakewood Ranch master developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch $6.3 million in a deal that carves the land out of over 1,600 acres SMR owns between Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, 44th Avenue, Lorraine Road and State Road 64.
According to Manatee County land records, officials with Standard Pacific's Tampa office made the deal on Dec. 10.
Dave Bulluch, the president of Standard Pacific's Tampa division, said his company will build a three-community housing development on its new property. The communities will be gated but will not be age restricted.
The development will be Standard Pacific's first in Lakewood Ranch.
"We're excited about entering the Lakewood Ranch master plan," he said.
The homebuilder's purchase puts it in the middle of construction hotbed. To the north, Lakewood Ranch builder Neal Communities is putting up homes in its Eagle Trace subdivision. To the south, Neal has another community, its 150-acre Indigo, underway on 44th Avenue.
