Everyone in Florida, except maybe students, looks forward to the end of summer. There are still a few weeks left, but Labor Day has always marked the unofficial start of fall, and Bradenton Elk's Lodge Post 1511 is offering a full weekend of events to help you celebrate.
On Saturday, you're invited to bring your dog for a "Bark in Elk's Park." It's a social for man's best friends, with games and contests from 2 to 5 p.m. For the humans, there's a chicken barbecue (2-6 p.m.) and live music (5-8 p.m.).
Sunday's main event is a Lobster Fest, from 3 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and you have to get them in advance. Sunday also brings a silent auction of "used treasures" at 4 p.m. and music 6-9 p.m.
Monday, Labor Day itself, features a picnic with bratwursts, hamburgers and hot dogs (1-5 p.m.), horse races at 2 p.m. and a cheesecake contest at 2:30 p.m.
All three days, you're invited to swim in the lodge's pool, and games and contests will be going on all weekend.
