Keifer and Shawna Thompson have had more No. 1 hits in six years than some major country acts have in their whole careers.
The husband-and-wife duo, who are collectively known as Thompson Square, hit the top of the charts and earned a platinum disk and two Grammy nominations for their charming breakout single, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not,” six year ago this month. Their other number-one singles include “If I Didn’t Have You” and “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About.” They were named the Vocal Duo of the Year for two consecutive years (2012 and 2103) at the American Country Music Awards.
Thompson Square is returning to Manatee County for a concert at Bradenton’s McKechnie Field on July 15. They performed at Winterfest in Lakewood Ranch in February of last year, headlining along with the Doobie Brothers and War.
The Thompsons were working as solo artists before they teamed up musically. They released their first album under the name Thompson Square in 2011 and their second two years later. Both albums neared the top of the country and indie charts.
