Fishing tournament: The Cortez Yacht Club in partnership with Edision Academics will host the first “Hook ’em & Cook ’em” Fishing Tournament June 24-26 at the Seafood Shack in Cortez.
This is a two-part tournament. “Hook’em” Are you a fisherman? $25 gets you entered into the tournament, inshore or offshore, with the chance of winning some of the $5,000 prize money. A junior division will be free to all kids (high school or younger) and there will be a separate pro division for the professional charter captains for bragging rights.
“Cook’em,” on June 26, will feature an all-you-can-eat fish fry open to the public 4-9 p.m. There will be games, prizes,a live auction and crab races. TC & the Troublemakers will be providing entertainment.

Anna Maria Island Privateers July Fourth Holiday Procession: Coquina Beach, City of Bradenton Beach
The Anna Maria Island Privateers are hosting their “July Fourth Holiday Procession” starting at 10 a.m. July 4 at Coquina Beach and ending at Bayfront Park, City of Anna Maria. The parade will feature multiple floats and units and will end with an After-Parade Party at Cafe on the Beach noon-4 p.m. There will be live music along with food and drink specials. Get Down Downtown: Main Street, Bradenton
Get Down Downtown will be 5-10 p.m. the third Thursday of each month. Visitors can enjoy live music, arts and crafts. The event is free an open to the public. A benefit to support Eddie “Superman” Livingston, 2, is set for 4-9 p.m. June 25. Eddie is fighting neuroblastoma cancer. Proceeds benefit the Livingston family and All Children’s Hospital. Steve Holy, country recording artist, will perform along with One Night Rodeo. Tickets are $25 at the gate.
“The Lord of the Rings” Motion Picture Trilogy: Hollywood Stadium 20, 1993 Main St., Sarasota
The Academy Award-winning trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings,” will be featured in an exclusive series of one-night only in-theater events at 7 p.m. including “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” June 28.
Audiences will view nearly an hour of additional feature footage per film with additional and extended scenes that were selected.

Millennium Dancesport Championships: Tampa Mariott Waterside Hotel and Marina
The professional dance competition is June 23-25 featuring guest judge Karina Smirnoff from “Dancing with the Stars.” More than 1,700 dancers will compete for $125,000 in cash and prizes. Day and evening tickets are available.
