The lineup for this year's 93.3 WFLZ Jingle Ball was already looking strong: Demi Lovato, Calvin Harris, Pharrell, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Nick Jonas and others.
Then last week came the announcement that Fall Out Boy had signed on for this year's edition of the annual holiday-themed show, which is set for Monday at the Amalie Arena in Tampa.
Fall Out Boy is by far the biggest name on the lineup. In fact, just last year they played their own show at the Sun Dome in Tampa, and it sold out quickly.
The Illinois quartet had an indie album called "Take This to Your Grave" in 2003, but came into the national spotlight a couple of years later with their major-label debut, "From Under the Cork Tree." Their songs, highlighted by Patrick Stump's pop-tinged rock melodies and Pete Wentz's smart and playful lyrics, have been a hit with audiences ever since.
Never miss a local story.
Other Big names on the lineup are the creators of the two biggest songs of 2014 -- Pharrell ("Happy") and Trainor ("All About that Bass") -- plus Lovato, the former child star who's become a credible pop star.
Other acts slated to perform include Charli XCX, Jessie J, MAGIC!, Rixton, Kiesza, Shawn Mendes and Jake Miller.
