This weekend's weather forecast calls for temperatures in the 70s. But there's no reason that should stop you and your kids from playing in the snow.
Snow Fest Sarasota is one of the area's biggest annual winter events. It's scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Payne Park.
There's going to be enough real snow for snow slides, a snow mountain and snowman-building. Snow Fest also features all sorts of seasonal shows and activities, including Santa's Circus, a Magic Workshop where Elvis will help kids create Christmas ornaments, Santa's Bounce House, an ice skating rink and performances by DJ Grinch, plus jugglers, hula-hoop artists and pony rides.
One of the highlights this year promises to be "Frozen at the Park," which will give youngsters a chance to meet Elsa and Anna, the characters from the hit animated film "Frozen."
Never miss a local story.
And, of course, Santa himself will be on hand, and kids can get their pictures taken with him.
Admission is free, and so are many of the shows and activities. But there's a charge for some attractions, including the bounce houses ($5), most of the snow activities ($10 for all day, parents free) and pictures with Santa ($5).
Details: Noon-10 p.m. Dec. 19-21, Payne Park, 2050 Adams Lane, Sarasota. Tickets. Free. Information: snowfestsarasota.com.
