There's probably no bigger name in electronic music than Skrillex.
The 26-year-old producer/singer/DJ has won six Grammy Awards in the past three years. He's been profiled in the New York Times magazine, and MTV named him electronic dance music artist of the year in 2011.
His music is as popular as it is critically acclaimed. He's so popular, in fact, that his concert in Tampa next week is close to selling out -- the less-expensive tickets are gone already -- even though it's on a Tuesday and it starts at 4:30 in the afternoon.
Skrillex, who's know for frenetic, high-tech shows with lots of lasers and other effects -- probably won't be going on until a reasonable hour, though. Joining him on the bill are GTA, Tchami and Vindata, all of whom will no doubt go first.
Tchami's a Parisian DJ/producer known for his remixes -- especially of Janet Jackson's "Go Deep" -- and for his single "Untrue," which is a minor hit in Europe.
Vindata is a duo (Jared Poythress and Branden Ratcliff) who blend funk, hip-hop and R&B with electronic dance music.
The concert is outside at a club called Hogan's Beach -- owned by former wrestler and reality show star Hulk Hogan -- near Tampa International Airport. It's an 18-and-older show.
Details: 4:30 p.m. Oct. 28, Hogan's Beach, 7700 W. Courtney Campbell Causeway, Tampa. Tickets: $46.19. Information: 813-281-0566, hogansbeachtampa,com
