The entertainment lineup for this year's Gulf Coast Rhythm & Ribfest isn't complete yet, but what's been announced so far is pretty impressive.
Ribfest is set for April 11-13, at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto.
Friday's headliner is country star Tracy Lawrence. He's been making hit records since the early 1990s, and made some of the biggest country hits from that decade, including "Sticks and Stones," "Alibis" and "Time Marches On." His last No. 1 hit was "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" in 2006, but he's still recording steadily and released his latest album last year.
On Saturday, the headliners are Lyfe Jennings and Musiq Soulchild. They're both among of the biggest acts in contemporary R&B.
Jennings is known for songs with a social conscience. Among his biggest hits are "Busy" and "Statistics," both from 2010.
Soulchild has been nominated for Grammy Awards 11 times, including five for Best R&B Male Vocal Performance.
Also performing Saturday will be Tampa's BK Jackson, a young sax player who has toured with Prince.
More acts will be announced soon, Ribfest officials said.
Ribfest will run from 5-10 p.m. April 11, noon-10 p.m. April 12 and noon-7 p.m. April 13.
This will be the eighth annual edition of Ribfest. Thanks in large part to its lineup of big-name entertainment acts every year, it's grown steadily, and now draws about 20,000 people over its three days every year.
Tickets will be available online and at local Circle K stores starting March 27. Prices haven't been announced yet. Check www.gulfcoastribfest.com for information.
