Here’s the vital information you need to know about this year’s fun:
Times, dates and place
Today through Jan. 23. Gates open at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at noon Saturday and Sunday. The Manatee County Fairgrounds are at 1303 17th St. W., Palmetto.
How much are tickets?
$7, $6 (seniors age 55 and older), $5 (children age 6 to 12), free (children age 5 and younger). A one-day “mega pass” providing unlimited rides and free admission is $20 and only available at Walgreens until Friday.
Music stars abound
Hot country act The Band Perry (Jan. 20) highlights this year’s impressive music slate. Others include Darryl Worley (Friday), Jaron and The Long Road to Love (Saturday) and Mikes Chair (Sunday).
When are livestock shows?
As usual, Mosaic Arena will be a hopping place. Select events include the swine show (6 p.m., today), dairy show (7 p.m., Friday) and steer show (6 p.m., Jan. 20).
Bring your appetite
There are plenty of morsels to tempt your tummy: pizza, corn dogs, hot dogs, hamburgers, Texas barbecue, nachos, smoked mullet, Cajun catfish, seafood, nuts, cinnamon rolls, cheesecake, fudge, funnel cakes, strawberry shortcake, elephant ears, cotton candy, candy apples and kettle corn to name just a few.
