Eager to visit Ireland? How about Italy? Maybe a trip to see the Egyptian pyramids or China’s Great Wall?
Then dust off your passport. South Florida Museum’s travel club might be your ticket.
If you decide to go on one of these international excursions, 100 percent of the commission made from the travel packages — which include air fare, hotel and most of your meals — will aid the museum’s educational programs.
Museum director Brynne Anne Besio said the club is a fun way for locals to travel while forging new friendships.
Never miss a local story.
“We want to bring groups of people who want to experience adventures of the world together,” she said.
It’s also a unique way to raise funds for the museum.
Of course, starting a travel club in bad economic times hasn’t been easy. With residents keeping their purse strings tight, interest has been mediocre at best, Besio said. But on top of that, not many people are aware that the museum offers a travel club.
Besio said that’s mainly because the nearly one-year-old club hasn’t been marketed enough. The museum plans to do more of that when it finds a new special events and marketing manager.
But the trips, arranged by Collette Vacations, are still available for the taking.
There four packages are available:
n “Shades of Ireland,” Sept. 28-Oct. 7. The 10-day trip includes Dublin, the Waterford Crystal factory, Blarney Castle, the Cliffs of Moher and more.
