And if you care about the near-future of country music, you’ll want to see them on Wednesday at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota. Niemann, Runaway June, Rager, Morgan and Lane, who are billed as “some of country music’s hottest young acts,” will all be part of the second annual “Young Guns of Country” concert at Van Wezel. That’s a lot of good live music, and it’s all free.
They’re not major stars yet. They’re young up-and-comers playing a free show. But all the acts have have some solid credentials. Niemann (who, at 37, may be stretching the definition of a “young” country artist) has released five albums over the past 17 years, and has co-written three singles for Garth Brooks.
Goodwill Manasota and country radio station 92.1 CTQ are teaming up for the concert, as they did last year.
Even though it’s free, you need a ticket to get in. Tickets are available only at Cox Chevrolet, 2900 Cortez Road W., Bradenton, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
