I have had my faith in people uplifted recently by strangers who have come into my life to help me. I am a disabled nurse and one night my 3-pound 15-year old crippled Chihuahua, Lady, slipped out the door. She was my constant companion and I was heartbroken. We had reward posters made at Office Depot. While standing in line a lady, who is a minister at a church, felt my heartbreak and she comforted me and told me she would have her church pray for Lady’s return. My husband also placed an ad in the Bradenton Herald’s Lost and Found section. We put the posters up everywhere in our area. The reward money was put up by my daughter and her father in Ohio. After eight days, I received a phone call from Paul Watts, a security guard at Carlton Arms, who said he had seen Lady and had tried to catch her, but she was too fast. My husband went to Carlton Arms and for two days handed out reward posters. The day after, a phone call came from Jonathan Aquino, who told my dad that he had found Lady the day after she disappeared and he took her in and gave her food and water. He owned another dog and had given Lady to a co-worker named Carolina Ramiro. I now have my Lady back and would like to thank all of the people mentioned above and all the people who called to let us know that they were praying for Lady’s safe return.

Also, a big thank you to our neighbor “Den” who delivered a big bunch of yellow roses upon Lady’s return.

I now know that there are more good people than bad and unfortunately we read a lot about the “bad” and this is my way of highlighting the “good.”

A big thank you

After years of saying “thank you” and “you’re welcome” as a matter of common courtesy, there are moments when those words mean more.

This is my moment: Getting my hair cut and Great Clips in Parrish, I suddenly could not talk or understand what was going on. Lindsay, the beautician, whom I did not know, immediately responded to my situation. I had a slight stroke. Lindsay insisted, and I agreed with her, to call an ambulance. This call probably kept me from a more serious situation.

Lindsay also called my son. Then a call from Mike Hill, the owner of Great Clips, checking on how I was doing. These people were strangers to me, yet they went out of their way for a human being in trouble.

After five days in the hospital I am now able to write this letter and want them to know this “thank you” is sincerely meant, by me and my family.

Thank you!
