Herald Staff reports

BRADENTON — Freshman Jujuan Pollack had two punt returns for touchdowns, Jared Williams had his usual dominating night on the ground and Bradenton Prep completed a perfect regular season with a 63-0 victory against Jacksonville Temple Christian.

Next up for the Patriots (9-0, 8-0): Miami South Florida Prep in next week’s Southern Independent Athletic Association state championship.

It’s been quite a year for coach Joe Hammond and his team, which extended its school-record winning streak to 18 games. With Manatee’s loss to Venice, Bradenton Prep is the lone undefeated team in Manatee County.

“We knew we had an especially good offensive and defensive line going into this season and that’s the key to any game,” Hammond said. “That helped a lot this season and we knew that our skill players were going to take care of business.”

That they did, game in and game out, especially Williams.

He had 12 carries for 184 yards and touchdown runs of 2 and 57 yards Friday. He added a touchdown reception of 38 yards.

Pollack had three punt returns for 194 yards, including the two scores of 68 and 54 yards.

“I’ve been waiting for him to have a breakout game like that,” Hammond said.

Zach Hammond completed just 6-of-7 passing for 113 yards, but three completions went for scores, including Williams’ catch, a 36-yarder to Zach Gratton and one for 16 yards to Ed Brown.

The Patriots’ other scores were a 15-yard run by Hammond and a 2-yard run by Robert Purifey.

Not to be outdone, Bradenton Prep’s defense proved stifling, holding the Soldiers to just 6 yards of total offense.

SAINT STEPHEN’S 38, Naples St. John Neumann 15 — Senior running back Cam Allen had 136 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 16 carries to lead the visiting Falcons (4-4, 2-2).

Allen’s twin, James, led the team on the defensive side of the ball with eight tackles, three assists and two fumble recoveries.

Other offensive stars for Saint Stephen’s included Sam Mire (two receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns) and quarterback Adam Vining, who ran for one score and threw for two.

The Falcons play Out-of-Door Academy next week.

CLEARWATER CENTRAL CATHOLIC 26, CARDINAL MOONEY 25 — A season marred by injuries got worse Friday for the visiting Cougars.

A injury to starting long snapper Michael Howard forced Cardinal Mooney to go for three two-point conversions in the second half, all of which failed.

The final try would have given the Cougars (2-6) a one-point lead with about 2:30 remaining in the game.

Cardinal Mooney fought back after falling behind 26-7 early in the third quarter.

The Cougars go on the road next week to play Mulberry.
