The lease is signed and plans are under way to bring Ada's Natural & Organic Foods Supermarket to Main Street.

"We have an agreement in place," said Paul Rutledge, executive vice president for Casto Lifestyle Properties, the developer of Main Street.

"Depending on how well we can process the plans through the county, we would hope to have Ada's open and operating by the very first of next year."

The Fort Myers-based organic foods store plans to move into the 12,000-square-foot space on Main Street formerly occupied by Morton's Gourmet Market.

Ada's Natural Foods promises its customers a large line of 100-percent certified organic produce and free-range organic meats, poultry and fish products. The grocery market already offers more than 23,000 items in its Fort Myers store, including an extensive gluten-free section that caters to restrictive or specialty diets.

LWR Commercial Realty President Brian Kennelly said the new organic market will be a perfect addition to the existing restaurants, boutiques, shops and cinema on Main Street.

"People travel some great distances to shop at Ada's stores," Kennelly said. "I just recently heard a story of one of the parents at Pinnacle Academy, the school here on the Ranch for autistic children, that has traveled to Ada's store down south because it was so important to that parent that they shop there."

Ada's Natural Foods embraces the healthy attitudes shared by many residents in Lakewood Ranch, Rutledge said.

"It is very much the Lakewood Ranch kind of lifestyle, which is to be outdoors and be healthy," Rutledge said. "We are working on putting next to Ada's a health and fitness area. So that you could go and work out, get your smoothie and shop for your groceries all in one area."
