Council accepting new members

MANATEE - Democratic business leaders in Manatee County are invited to join the Manatee Democratic Business Council.

The council is expanding to a second meeting on the third Friday of each month.

The inaugural meeting will be 8 a.m. May 16 at the Bob Evans Restaurant, 7393 State Road 70.

There also is an 8 a.m. meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at Theresa's Restaurant, 608 14th St. W., Bradenton.

Grand opening

PARRISH - The shops at Allris Plaza are celebrating their grand opening with a block party May 18.

Panini Pizza Café, Leslie Wells Realty, Parsons Medical Center, Crepes and More, The Crazy Butcher and Sparkle Brite Pools will all be participating at the 8320 U.S. 301 N. plaza.

From 11a.m. to 3 p.m. participants will receive free beach balls, hickory-smoked pork sandwiches and lemonade and blood pressure and glucose checks.
