BRADENTON — The DeSoto Square mall is offering shoppers several Christmas-related events.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree will be at the mall through Dec. 5. Shoppers may pick a name off the Angel Tree and purchase a special holiday gift for a child who otherwise would not have a Christmas. Representatives from the Salvation Army will distribute gifts the week of Christmas. The Salvation Army also will be collecting cash donations for needy families across the Bradenton area. The Salvation Army kettle will be in front of the Food Court main entrance through Dec. 24.

From Dec. 18 to Dec. 23, shoppers can purchase an ornament from the Tidewell Hospice Crane Tree in the mall’s Center Court in honor of a lost loved one. The annual display will benefit Hospice, Inc.

Volunteers from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Explorer program will be offering gift wrapping services for a suggested donation, seven days each week, beginning Dec. 9 through Dec. 24. The giftwrapping will be near Santa in the JCPenney Court and all proceeds will benefit the Manatee County Sheriff’s Explorer program.
