Commerce Bank of Southwest Florida was closed today, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Web site.
It marks the 124th bank to fail this year across the country — the most in 17 years.
The Fort Myers-based bank was closed by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation. Central Bank, of Stillwater, Minn., will assume all of its assets.
Florida has seen 12 bank closures this year, five of which have been situated in Southwest Florida.
