EAST MANATEE — The chalk menu board out front still lists king crab night on Wednesdays, “Looney for Lobster” night on Thursdays and 10 entrees under $12 every night.
But Island Time Grill, 8225 Cooper Creek Blvd., in The Shoppes at University Center, is closed, another victim of hard economic times.
“Tough economic times have taken their toll on many of you as well as us. It’s a sad day for all of us and we will miss all of you,” Island Time Grill owners said on their Web site.
A notice also was posted on the front door of the restaurant announcing the closing, but asking customers to watch for future announcements.
The restaurant was located in a Benderson shopping center at the northwest corner of University Parkway and Interstate 75. The shopping center has several other restaurants, including Bonefish Grill, Cantina Toscana, and Lee Roy Selmon’s.
Iren MacNeill was one of the customers disappointed that Island Time Grill has closed.
“We are going to miss them. They had excellent food. We went there on a regular basis. The closing was a shock,” MacNeill said.
Owners Bruce and Evan Dawson could not be reached for comment.
