BRADENTON Two cats were overcome by smoke revived with pet oxygen masks after one side of a duplex caught fire at 5:48 p.m. Thursday, according to the Southern Manatee Fire Rescue.
The fire started in the kitchen at 5719 Seventh St. E. duplex B, Bradenton, while a tenants was cooking, according to Southern Manatee Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Ricardo Blanco.
He had a grease fire get out of control, Blanco said.

The spiny lobster recreational and commercial season closes to harvest in state and federal waters starting April 1 and will reopen Aug. 6, according to the Florida Wildlife Commission.

A line of storms is moving in from the Gulf of Mexico into Manatee County from the northern counties. Rain chances will be 80 percent Friday as a cold front comes through the area, said Bay News 9 Meteorologist Brian McClure.

The motorcycle struck the right-front side of the Accord and the driver was thrown from the motorcycle sustaining serious bodily injury. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage.

A 52-year-old Bradenton woman is in serious condition after she rear-ended a semi tractor trailer early Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
