The Cleveland Indians have named Tim Belcher their new pitching coach, as the team begins to fill out its staff for new manager Manny Acta.
Belcher has spent the last eight seasons as a special assistant with the Indians in their baseball operations department. Prior to that, Belcher spent 14 seasons pitching in the majors for the Dodgers, Reds, White Sox, Tigers, Mariners, Royals and Angels. His career ended after 2000 with a record of 146-140 and a 4.16 earned run average in 394 games -- 373 starts.
A native of Mount Gilead, Ohio, Belcher has worked with Indians pitchers at each minor league level and has also provided assistance during Spring Training.
Belcher replaces Carl Willis, who had served as the team's pitching coach since 2003.
