A destination wedding is an extremely popular choice – and many destination brides come here to our sunny Gulf Coast for their weddings.
But if you’ve always dreamed of being married on board ship on a Caribbean cruise, with your friends and family along for the celebration, or gathering everyone for a wild ride to Las Vegas, you have the heart of a destination bride.
Your fi rst stop should be a reputable travel agency. Tell them your dreams and desires and they’ll take it from there! The most popular destination spots for Manatee and Sarasota County brides are Barbados, Jamaica and shipboard, though Hawaii, Europe, or the South Pacifi c may be your idea of wedding perfection.
Go all-inclusive if you can, even the gratuities are included and you don’t need a lot of cash. Take a couple credit cards and leave copies of them with a friend or relative.
Your travel agent can take care of the legalities, too – to make sure you’re actually legally married, and what residency requirements there are at your destination. Some places require residency 48 to 72 hours before the ceremony.
Many destination resorts and cruises have a wedding coordinator on staff to take care of the details, and your travel agent can set up everything for you. Who pays? You do, except for airfare for your guests. Your destination wedding will be the one your guests will remember the rest of their lives.
