YOLO Parasail You Only Live Once is Ryan Davis's motto and the meaning of the name of Ryan's company, YOLO Parasail. The parasail ride is like floating, he says, a relaxing way to sightsee, with a smooth take-off and smooth landing. You often see dolphins and other wildlife.
Ryan, a Bradenton native and energetic entrepreneur, took a roundabout path to finding his destiny as a highly-skilled parasail operator and owner of the most successful parasail business in the area. A six-year National Guard veteran, he worked part time as a jet ski attendant and eventually bought the jet ski business and also opened up a cafe. But when he learned to fly a parasail at a nearby business he was hooked!
Ryan got out of the jet ski and cafe business to open up his own parasailing enterprise. Now he owns and operates YOLO Parasail and his newest venture, A.M.Island Adventures, which features sunset, dolphin and sightseeing cruises perfect for any occasion including birthday parties and wedding receptions.
In June 2008 YOLO Parasail was awarded the US Coast Guard's Parasail Seal of Safety, as well as Ryan's Captain's License. Parasailing is quiet, with pretty aerial views, and it's very safe. What about those TV show home videos of parasailing mishaps? That's parasailing on the lake with your Uncle Eddie,Ryan laughs, and Uncle Eddie's definitely not a professional parasail operator! The business is also a member of the Professional Association of Parasail Operators. YOLO is the area's longest owned and operated parasail company, with the largest parasail boat.
Anyone can enjoy the parasailing experience. YOLO's customers have included quadriplegics, paraplegics, amputees, the deaf and blind, young and old. Our oldest customer so far was a 98-year-old woman, Ryan says.
A parasail ride lasts about 15 exhilarating minutes, and you spend about an hour total on the boat, with lots of sightseeing opportunities. Recently a YOLO Parasail customer in flight spotted an elusive giant manta ray, sometimes called a Devil Ray, that leaps and somersaults out of the water.
Now the most experienced parasail operator in the area, Ryan trains parasail operators internationally in places like Jamaica, Belize, St. Lucia and the Fiji Islands.
