When the local new construction industry fell flat, Southern Comfort owner Rick Allard had to revamp his business to survive the huge loss of income. With the same determination that helped Rick and his wife Terri build a small shop in their garage into a booming tri-county business over the past 24 years, the Allards took action.
Rick purchased a local HVAC company with similar revenues to Southern Comfort and combined both companies to replace some of the lost construction revenue. He then converted to the very successful One Hour franchise, which delivers 100% satisfaction and on-time guarantees.
“We are in the process of completely re-branding our company,’ Rick says. “We’re now part of the largest contracting network across the US and Canada.”

Rick is currently President (for the fourth time) of Manasota Air Conditioning Contractor Association, an organization Rick started with two other contractors in 1987.
He also serves on the advisory board of the CTC (Construction Technology Careers) which trains and encourages young people to pursue a trade. On the Manatee Technical Institute advisory board Rick assists HVAC instructors with training and equipment and materials needed for instruction.
