“The life of a trial lawyer is challenging and stressful...but I thrive on it!”

Florida Super Lawyer and prominent Bradenton attorney, Eddie Mulock can pick up the beat to any doo wop song on his drums, seek out a fruitful fishing hole and start learning a new language just for fun.

This Manatee High School grad and champion for special-needs kids fully embraces life, but one passion has remained constant for more than 40 years: practicing law.

“The life of a trial lawyer is challenging and stressful-more so than other types of law practice-but I thrive on it!” says Mulock, a trial lawyer for civil litigation and criminal cases who opened his practice in 1967 and specializes in wrongful death and personal injury as well as criminal defense.

After graduating from Stetson Law School, Mulock argued on both sides: prosecution and defense. He first worked as a Public Defender and then for the State Attorney’s Office before opening his own firm, a move that has brought him many high-profile cases and career accolades.

For the third year in a row, Florida Super Lawyers Magazine has named him a top Florida attorney. The Super Lawyers list is a prestigious distinction awarded to only 5 percent of attorneys in Florida who are chosen by peers in the law profession to create a resource for those seeking standout attorneys.

Mulock inspires people with his strength in and out of the courtroom. In 1995 he had a heart transplant and in 2006 a liver & kidney transplant.

“Transplant survivors count the years,” says Mulock. “Every year you get is a free year!”

Mulock has turned his medical challenges into something positive for others. While in the hospital for his heart transplant, children battling illnesses inspired Mulock to form in 1995 the Foundation for Dreams, a non-profit organization that funds his Dream Oaks Camp. Children with serious illnesses or disabilities can enjoy a safe and memorable overnight camping experience.

Even though Mulock carves out quality time with his family or honing his hobbies, you’ll still find him making weekend office visits to prepare for an upcoming trial.

“I’m in court a lot,” he says. “I don’t like sitting behind a desk-I like being in the courtroom. For me, that’s practicing law!”
