Sarasota native Jack O’Neill started as an entry level mechanic in the motorcycle business in 1972. He opened his first dealership in Venice in 1988, and opened the Bradenton dealership in 1995.
His partner John Havell, a New Jersey native, started out working in the boat industry at age 15. John moved to Sarasota in 1987 to go to college at MCC, and during that time worked for Wellcraft Marine.
Jack sponsored John for professional jet ski racing/freestyle, and in 1999 hired him as sales manager of Action Kawasaki Yamaha. In 2008 John became a partner in the company.
Action is a family-owned business with dedicated long-term employees who are power sports enthusiasts like the owners. They sell motorcycles, scooters, utility vehicles, ATV’s, RUV’s, and watercraft with top brand names like Kawasaki, Sea-Doo, Yamaha, Can-Am and Schwinn. Action offers pre-owned sports vehicles as well, including street bikes, dirt bikes, scooters and watercraft, with financing programs for new or used. Their first-class service department is staffed by knowledgeable, certified mechanics who expertly handle everything from minor tune-ups and maintenance to major overhauls. The parts and accessories department offers a huge selection available for local pick-up or Action will ship anywhere in the country.
Action is deeply involved with the community. “We’re riding in the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s ‘Ride For Kids’ in November,” says Jack. The company also supports riders of the Florida Trail Riders Association and donates, sponsors and helps all areas of the community, including loaning units to the fire, police, and Sheriff’s departments.
