The strong wind shear that has shred several tropical systems this summer claimed another one Thursday -- short-lived Tropical Storm Henri.
At 5 p.m., the National Hurricane Center declared Henri too weak and ragged to continue issuing advisories.
Forecasters expected Henri's remains would further dissipate but the remnant low could still bring rain and gusty winds to Puerto Rico and Hispaniola by the weekend and possibly to the South Florida by early next week.
The system was about 1,200 miles southeast of Miami and 300 miles northeast of San Juan. Winds had dropped to 30 mph. The storm was moving west-northwest at 12 mph.
A tropical wave also was about 250 miles east of the southern Windward Islands and was expected to bring squalls to the islands and northern Venezuela overnight. Though it was showing some signs of organization, the center gave it a low chance of developing over the 24 to 48 hours.
