Manson Roofing Inc. has been in business for more than 30 years.
Owners Bruce and George Manson credit much of the success of their business to a "relationship" the company forms with its customers.
Manson Roofing is the winner of the Manatee Small Business of the Year award for companies with revenues greater than $6 million.
The Bradenton-based company has 54 employees and does commercial and residential roof work primarily in Manatee and Sarasota counties.
Manson Roofing was the first roofing contractor in Manatee County to be designated as a drug-free workplace. The company sponsors an employee retirement plan as well as health insurance.
Manson Roofing has also kept up with technology to help grow its business.
"We have improved our communication system, provided network computer services in our office, which includes our detailed job cost system for daily information updates on project status, allowing for a proactive approach to managing our work," says George Manson. "(We have) vehicle GPS tracking in all vehicles to improve our response time to get the closest truck to the location in need, and for job time tracking and verification."
Manson Roofing has been a regular contributor of time and funds to such organizations as Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club of Manatee, the Family Partnership Center and local schools.
"We have also participated with our local roofing association, working on group re-roofing projects in more recent years such as the Myakka Community Center, the Young Life building in Punta Gorda and the Still Point House of Prayer in Bradenton," George Mason says.
