With a name like The Crazy Butcher, this new Parrish shop, featuring fresh cuts of high quality meats, great wines and other goodies, expresses its owner's sense of fun.

I was in the restaurant business most of my life, says Tim Hall, The Crazy Butcher himself. When I first told my wife Cindy I wanted to quit my job as Director of Operations for a restaurant to open a butcher shop, she said I was crazy. That's how The Crazy Butcher got its name.

Open only three months, The Crazy Butcher is already a popular North Manatee spot to buy fine food. We carry high quality meats like Certified Angus beef, says Tim. Only 8% of all beef meets the quality standards to be Certified Angus. It's noticeably different from beef from a grocery store.

The shop also carries Boar's Head meats, as well as finer wines and other products not available in grocery stores.
Tim and Cindy and their two daughters live nearby. This area has been growing and it was just too far to travel regularly to a quality butcher shop. Cindy, who works for Bank of America, helps out on Saturdays and the Halls' oldest daughter comes in after school.

A putting green near the front of the store entertains customers on busy days like Saturday while waiting for The Crazy Butcher to fill your order. The store holds wine tastings once a month. They also carry delicious ready-to-eat meals like lasagna, stir fry, and meatballs. Smoked pork and ribs are available on Saturdays.

The Crazy Butcher is open 7 days a week, 9-6 Monday through Saturday and 12-3 Sundays, at 8328 Hwy 301, in Allris Plaza near the Erie Road- Old Tampa Road light. Phone 721-4601.
