At least 325 supporters turned out in their black-tie finest Saturday evening for Bradenton’s premier social event, Snooty’s Gala.

The annual gala benefits the South Florida Museum and Snooty, Bradenton’s famous West Indian Manatee.

As Trudy Moon, this year’s committee chair, told the crowd, it was the perfect evening. The museum’s Spanish Plaza courtyard was glittering under the stars and lights, where guests dined on cuisine prepared by Chef Paul of Mattison’s. 14 Hands wines from Washington State were on each table to accompany the filet and shrimp dinner.

LeMoyne Johnson greeted guests outside the museum, offering portraits with a Rolls Royce for a $20 donation — all proceeds went to Snooty.Everyone was issued a “Snooty Credit Card” to purchase or bid on any items. And bid they did — the silent auction raised more than $20,000, according to development director Kelly Foster. Tom Jess donated a beautiful diamond necklace, which was raffled off to lucky winner Dr. Cornelius Turalba.

Along with Trudy and Brynne Anne Besio, executive director of the South Florida Museum and Bishop Planetarium, committee members greeting guests included Pam Blalock, Sharon Hillstrom, Ann Marie Nicholas, Carol Rice, Will Robinson, Karen Miller, Valerie Grubbs, Amanda Edge, Lisa Hoban, Connie Wagner, Jim Fraley, Rose Carlson and Betsy Pennewill.

Was the night a success? Well, Snooty certainly thought so. He sent out a tweet on his Twitter and Facebook on Monday morning: “Thanks to everyone who came out for Snooty’s Gala! It was a fantastic celebration.”
