Drama Kids Flourishes Children’s Lead Acting Educator, Despite Tough Economy

Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch, FL (Grassroots Newswire) 3/12/09 -- Drama Kids of Manasota, which is part of the international franchise organization and has a proven drama program that builds speaking and acting skills and confidence in children and teenagers, is happy to be preparing for it’s seventh year of summer enrichment programs in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch.

“We are so thrilled that we have been able to continue to provide a quality drama education program to both our school-year program students and summer camps students, despite this year’s tough economy, “ states Tamara.

Since Drama Kids of Manasota opened in 2002, children have been able to experience the positive impact of drama in their lives. Drama Kids provides creative lessons with a built-in advancing scale of language development that enables students of various ages and abilities to relate to the program and progress at their own rate and comfort level. According to Solum, the programs really emphasize activities that focus on confident acting skills, strong speaking techniques, creative movement and dialogue development.

“What makes our program different from other drama programs is that while there is some performance aspect, that is not our emphasis,” says Solum.

Solum explains, “We do not do things like “High School Musical” or other musical shows because that just becomes tedious rehearsals, not a lot of time is spent on instruction, and that can get boring for kids. Instead, we focus on building acting techniques and encourage each individual student’s creativity and communication skills. Our Drama Kids Playhouse Playwriting Camp and Creative Theatre Camp allow all the students to contribute creatively while being assisted by our experienced and specially trained Drama Kids instructors.”

“I think the reason we have not lost students during this difficult economic time is due to conscientious parents who see value in quality arts education programs like ours and what kind of positive impact they can have on developing their child.”

Debbie Eldridge, the parent of a Drama Kids Summer Camp student, states, “Blake had such a great time at Drama Kids Camp! You were really able to bring out the side of him that he doesn’t often share with the public. Definitely a huge confidence booster!”
