Eric Bruntlett was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs as the Philadelphia Phillies stifled the Pittsburgh Pirates, 3-1, in Grapefruit League action.
Ryan Howard went 2-for-3 with a double and Shane Victorino drove in the other Phillies run, while Joe Savery tossed two hitless innings in his start. Josh Outman struck out two in his three scoreless innings to earn the win, while three Philadelphia relievers allowed just one run over the final four frames.
Kevin Thompson had a pair of hits and Steve Pearce had an RBI single to lead a punchless Pirates offense that provided little support for starter Matt Morris.
Morris allowed just three hits in his two innings, and Casey Fossum took the loss, allowing two earned runs on three hits in the fifth.
