The Florida Department of Transportation and Manatee County plan to spend almost $125 million on dozen major road projects in Manatee through the end of 2009.

Here’s a brief look at them: I-275 between U.S. 19 ramp and Hillsborough County line: A $3.1 million resurfacing project is expected to start in fall 2009.

I-275 between Terra Ceia River and U.S. 19: A $1.6 million resurfacing project is anticipated to start in spring 2009. I-75 from Mendoza Road to Moccasin Wallow Road: A $3.1 million resurfacing project is slated to begin in fall 2009.

I-75 between State Road 70 and Kay Road: A $5.9 million resurfacing project is expected to begin in fall 2009. S.R. 37 from S.R. 62 to Polk County line: A $10.6 million resurfacing project is targeted for a winter 2009 start.

S.R. 62 from U.S. 301 to Gamble Creek: A $9.7 million resurfacing project is slated to begin in summer 2009. S.R. 62 from Gamble Creek to Bunker Hill Road: An $8.4 million resurfacing project is slated to begin summer 2009.

S.R. 62 from Bunker Hill Road to S.R. 37: A $6.7 million resurfacing project is expected to start in summer 2009. S.R. 64 between Lena Road and Lakewood Ranch Blvd.: Ogoing $25.2 million project to widen the road to six lanes is scheduled to be completed in winter 2010.

S.R. 64 at 67th Street West: A $591,000 project to modify the intersection is scheduled to start in summer 2009. S.R. 64 from Palma Sola to 43rd Street West: A $5.1 million resurfacing project is expected to begin in summer 2009.

Cortez Road between U.S. 41 and 26th Street West: A $1.1 million resurfacing project is slated to begin in spring 2009. 15th Street East from S.R. 64 to 24th Avenue East: A $1.4 million resurfacing project expected to begin in spring 2009.

Gulf of Mexico Drive at Bay Isles Parkway and at Broadway: A $341,250 project to add right-turn lanes is expected to begin in fall 2009. Gulf of Mexico Drive from Longboat Pass Bridge to Sarasota County line: A $5 million resurfacing project is targeted for a summer 2009 start.

U.S. 301 at Terra Siesta: A $337,800 drainage-improvement project is scheduled to start in fall 2009. U.S. 301 between 16th and 24th avenues east: A $360,800 drainage-improvement project is expected to begin in summer 2009.

U.S. 301 from Erie/Old Tampa roads to County Road 675: A $34 million project to widen the road to four lanes is expected to start in spring 2009. S.R. 64 at Anna Maria Island Bridge: An ongoing $10.1 million rehabilitation is anticipated to be done in summer 2009.

14th Street West between Manatee Avenue and Cortez Road: A roughly $1 million median landscaping project is planned to start in early 2009. 63rd Avenue East over Pearce Canal: A $1.2 million bridge-replacement project is targeted for an early 2009 start.

15th Street East at 26th Avenue East: A $1.2 million intersection improvement project that includes adding left-turn lanes and upgrading signals will start in late 2008 or early 2009.

17th Street between U.S. 41 and Canal Road, Palmetto: A $6.5 million project to widen the road to four lanes, add sidewalks, bike lanes and street lights, upgrade signals and improve drainage is expected to begin in late 2008 or early 2009.

17th Street West between U.S. 41 and U.S. 41 Business/Eighth Avenue West, Palmetto: A $5.5 million project to widen travel lanes, add sidewalks, bike lanes and street lights, and upgrade a railroad crossing is expected to start in early 2009.

Canal Road between 24th and 29th streets east: A $1.6 million project to pipe a drainage ditch on the road’s western edge is slated for an early 2009 start.
