At the Palace Theater: tickets to see Will Rogers' "all talking" Fox Movietone "They Had to See Paris" cost 10-40 cents for the matinee and 10-50 cents for the nighttime showing.
At the Dixie Grande Hotel dining room: Sunday dinner on Jan. 5, 1930, cost $1.25. The daily price for lunch was 75 cents and dinner was $1.
Herald classified ads featured: FOR SALE - On a first-class residential street. First floor, large living room, dining room, kitchen and pantries, bedroom and bath, front and back screened porches. Second floor, five bedrooms, two bathrooms, ample closets. Fully furnished. $20,000.

At the restaurant: Bay Drugs, the local Walgreen agency, offers a Sunday dinner for 50 cents. It includes a fruit cup, roast turkey with dressing and cranberry sauce, two vegetables (select from marshmallow yams, creamed potatoes, fresh string beans or peas and carrots), pineapple/cheese salad, rolls and butter, iced tea or coffee, and dessert (either brown betty pudding or ice cream)
