Posted on July 18, 2014

MANATEE -- A dump truck rolled over on its side off State Road 70 after the driver lost control early Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The vehicle was driving eastbound on State Road 70 when he lost control of his vehicle and it began to veer right off the roadway, according to a release. The truck then struck a concrete culvert pipe, a driving embankment and a mailbox.

The trailer began to rotate clockwise, causing it to overturn and eventually making the truck lose its load on the roadway, according to troopers. The vehicle continued traveling southeast, sliding on its side, until it struck posts and barbed wire fence on the south shoulder, where it came to a stop.

The vehicle slid on its side for about 283 feet, according to the release. The report gave no details on why the vehicle originally lost control.
