Prep wrestling: Hurricanes thrive at Disney

ORLANDO -- Caleb Rudisill and members of the Manatee High wrestling team had a solid showing during the Disney Duals, which wrapped July 1.

The Manatee Mafia placed 14th out of 46 teams, and Rudisill went 10-1 to earn All-America honors. A rising junior, Rudisill won 57 matches last season and was ranked No. 1 in Class 3A at 113 pounds heading into the state tournament, where he fell a win short of reaching the medal round.

Rudisill won his first 10 matches in Orlando and is 42-11 in offseason matches.

Jesse Fulk, a state runner-up last season at 160 pounds whose 59 wins set a single-season program record, went 9-2 and also earned All-America honors. A rising senior, Fulk has wrestled 60 matches in the offseason, winning 48.

After losing 21 of 22 previous matches at past Disney Duals events, Tim Dinsdale went 9-2 and earned All-America status. Tyrek Hoyte, a surprising medalist at 126 pounds last year, went 6-5.

Also notching winning records for the Canes were Alex Ginn (7-4), a state qualifier last year, John Baldwin (7-4) and Eric Pompey (5-4).

Cycling: Gallopin wins 11th stage of Tour

OYONNAX, France -- France's Tony Gallopin led a late breakaway to win the 11th stage of the Tour de France in a hilly ride in eastern France, as Italy's Vincenzo Nibali retained the overall lead.

The pack returned to action on Wednesday after the race's first rest day with the 187.5-kilometer (116.3-mile) ride from Besancon to Oyonnax -- not far from the Swiss border.

NBA: Hornets land Stephenson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Lance Stephenson is bringing his swag to Charlotte.

The controversial shooting guard agreed to a $27 million, three-year deal with the Hornets, according to a person familiar with the contract. The deal includes a team option for the third season. Stephenson is expected to be introduced at a press conference Friday.

ELSEWHERE -- Heat free agent James Jones will be joining LeBron James with the Cavaliers. Jones and the Cavaliers agreed to terms on a veteran's minimum deal for $1.4 million. ... Anthony Tolliver has agreed to a two-year, $6 million contract with the Phoenix Suns.

Tennis: Wozniacki advances to Istanbul Cup quartes

ISTANBUL -- Top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark defeated Karin Knapp of Italy 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Istanbul Cup.

ELSEWHERE -- Estonian qualifier Anett Kontaveit is out of the Swedish Open, a day after beating top-seeded Alize Cornet in Bastad, Sweden. … Serbian qualifier Filip Krajinovic defeated defending champion Fabio Fognini 6-4, 6-0 in Hamburg, Germany, as a host of seeded players crashed out in the second round of the Hamburg Open.
