Weather Service issues flood warning for Manatee River

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Manatee River near Myakka Head, as heavy rains continue to fall in the area this week.

The warning is set to take effect Thursday morning and last until Friday afternoon.

"Minor flood is forecast," the Weather Service said in a statement.

"The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by (Thursday) late morning and continue to rise to near 11.8 feet by (Thursday evening).

Flood stage is 11 feet.

The Weather Service said the river is expected to fall below flood stage by late Friday morning.
