Bradenton police question 3 after man shot in lower back

July 15, 2014

BRADENTON -- Bradenton police are investigating a shooting that occurred just before 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of 12th Street West, which injured one person and resulted in the detention of three suspects.

Multiple police cars were parked at the corner of 12th Street West and 21st Avenue West and the street was blocked off with yellow tape late into the evening.

“The victim was here with his brother. The suspect is known to the victim and his brother,” said Lt. John Affolter of the Bradenton Police Department at the crime scene. “At this point, we believe the shooting was not random -- it was targeted.”

The victim, who was shot in the lower back, was sent to Blake Hospital. Affolter said police were waiting to hear about his condition.
