Sheriff: Bradenton woman charged in roach tablets theft

MANATEE -- A Bradenton woman was charged with shoplifting Saturday after deputies say she stole roach tablets from a Bradenton Publix, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Maya Rembo, 41, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Publix, 6030 14th St. W., Bradenton. According to a report, Rembo entered the supermarket and selected a box of roach tablets valued at $3.99. She left the store and smoked a cigarette. That's when Rembo was detained by a loss prevention officer, according to a report. The box of roach tablets was recovered, deputies said.

According to the report, Rembo told deputies that this incident was an honest mistake.

She was released from jail the same day on $120 bond.
