Scott Romine, violation of domestic violence injunction, domestic battery, tampering, no bond

— A man collapsed and died after he got into a fight with his girlfriend's husband, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

The 61-year-old victim, whose identity has not yet been released by authorities, had his new girlfriend over for the evening at his residence in the Royal Garden Estates mobile home park, 6904 Cortez Road, according to the report.

Some time around 2:15 a.m. Saturday, the girlfriend's husband, 43-year-old Scott E. Romine, whom she has an injunction against, found her vehicle at the residence. The victim went outside to address Romine, who punched him, the report states. Both men fell to the ground, where they continued to fight.

Deputies were called to the scene to investigate. As they were interviewing the victim, he collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

"The victim did have medical conditions," the report states.

Romine was arrested and charged with violation of a domestic violence injunction, domestic battery and tampering. He was being held in Manatee County jail with no bond, according to the sheriff's office website.

The death investigation is ongoing.
