BRADENTON — Deputies used a stun gun to capture a wanted man who fled from them on a moped, authorities said Saturday.
A Manatee County Sheriff's deputy spotted the suspect, Benjamin Kukwa, 28, riding a moped some time around 10:41 p.m. Friday night, according to a report. Kukwa was wanted on felony warrants.
When the deputy attempted to stop Kukwa, he fled, the report states. The deputy caught up with Kukwa, but he resisted arrest and "was able to defeat" an electronic control device, fleeing a second time, according to the report.
A second stun gun was used, and Kukwa was eventually handcuffed and taken to Manatee County jail after he was medically cleared.
The incident happened near the 1300 block of First Street East in Bradenton.
Kukwa is being held on more than $20,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office website.
