St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays activated shortstop Yunel Escobar from the 15-day disabled list and placed pitcher Jake McGee on the paternity list on Friday.

Escobar was suffering from shoulder soreness that landed him on the DL July 1, retroactive to June 24.

Escobar is batting .244 with four homers and 22 RBI in 77 games this season.

McGee's wife, Morgan, gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday, landing him on the paternity list.

For the season, McGee has a 3-0 mark with a 1.56 ERA and six saves in 44 relief appearances. In 40 1/3 innings, he has allowed just 27 hits, walked nine and struck out 48.
