MANATEE -- A man who was arguing with his wife suffered a minor cut to his hand after his brother-in-law swung a knife at him early Friday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened about 3:39 a.m. at an apartment in the 4500 block of Ninth Street West, where the victim, his wife, his brother-in-law and another woman had been drinking alcohol, according to a news release.

During the argument, the woman's brother pulled out a knife and swung it at his brother-in-law, cutting the victim's left hand slightly, according to the report.

The wife, her brother and the second woman then left the apartment and walked to the parking lot, where one of them picked up a rock and tried to break the victim's window. Instead, the rock broke a window belonging to a neighboring apartment, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspects then fled the area in a red SUV, the sheriff's office said.
