Manatee County planners OK more homes for Parrish subdivision

HERALD STAFF REPORTJuly 11, 2014

PARRISH -- Plans for Buckhead Trails, a proposed Parrish community, are being adjusted to accommodate more homes than originally projected.

The Manatee County Planning Commission approved a request Thursday from the 203-acre community to include 532 single family homes, or 165 more than the 367 units approved by the county commission in 2008.

Buckhead Trails is on Buckeye Road east of Interstate 75.

Applicant Cargor Partners wants to reduce lot sizes to accommodate more homes. Density would rise from about 1.8 homes per acre to more than 2.6 per acre.

County commissioners will consider the proposed change during their meeting Aug. 7.
